Gyaru (ギャル oder GAL) ist die Bezeichnung einer japanischen Subkultur aus den späten 90er und frühen 2000er Jahren. Es gibt mehrere Gyaru Stile, die hier gezeigten Bilder zeigen den Ganguro (ガングロ oder kurogyaru 黒ギャル) Stil. Die Bewegung war ein Statement gegen die japanischen weiblichen Schönheitskonventionen (Zurückhaltung, dunkles Haar und helle Haut) und reagierte mit Solarium gebräunter Haut, bunt gefärbten Haaren und knalligen Outfits. Der Stil verschwand Mitte der 2000er und erfuhr erst mehr als 10 Jahre später ein Comeback. Die Gründung der Gruppe Black Diamond from 2000 und die Eröffnung des Ganguro Cafés in Shibuya sorgte für neue Aufmerksamkeit. Heute ist die Gyaru Community sehr international und ist überall auf der Welt vertreten, auf Instagram gibt es einen sehr großen Support unter Gyaru weltweit.
Ayuyun war Staff im von Erimokkori geführten Ganguro Café. Ihr Name kommt von Ayumi Hamasaki, der „Queen of J-Pop“, die damals die erfolgreichste japanische Sängerin war. Ihr Make-up, ihre Haare und Nägel sind extrem Ganguro.

The movement was a statement against Japanese female beauty conventions (restraint, dark hair, and fair skin) and responded with sunbed-tanned skin, brightly colored hair, and vibrant outfits. The style faded in the mid-2000s and only experienced a comeback more than 10 years later. The formation of the group Black Diamond from 2000 and the opening of the Ganguro Café in Shibuya brought renewed attention. Today, the Gyaru community is very international and represented all over the world; there is a large global Gyaru community on Instagram.
